Townhomes For Sale in McLean VA

Welcome to McLean

McLean is a great place to live. It also very versatile.

One part of town very close to Great Falls Park. A state park with scenic overlooks of the Potomac River, and large single family homes in wooded acreage.

In West McLean, the landscape resembles a small city. The Silver Line Metro Stop and Tysons Corner are easily accessible. Luxury shopping, dining and high rise buildings are the norm.

In between these two contrasts in the center of McLean is the “downtown” area. A cozy area with some of McLean’s signature shops, restaurants and commercial space.

Like the rest of Northern VA, the identity of McLean has changed with time.

During times of building and expansion, there has been great new developments in both McLean and neighboring towns.

There is usually a relatively small number of townhomes in McLean VA for sale, as the area is best known for luxury homes and high rise condos near Tysons Corner.

But, the townhome communities that are in McLean are beautiful. With classic colonial designs that are a trademark to the area, they are both impressive and convenient.

A townhome is a great way to enjoy being a resident if you want something low maintenance that is not in a condo building.

See below for the currently available inventory and also some of the more popular neighborhoods.

Communities

These are not all the townhomes in McLean VA, but these are popular and also the most number of sales compared to some smaller neighborhoods.

The list above includes townhomes beyond these neighborhoods, and for sale in all of McLean.

Stoneleigh

Stoneleigh is a small quaint community right near the heart of McLean. It is located at the intersection of Westmoreland St and Chain Bridge Rd.

The townhomes themselves are on the smaller side of the townhomes in McLean. With that said, they are not priced as high as some of their counterparts. In addition, they historically sell quickly in a good market.

The homes are brick, painted different colors. Some have mansard roofs and others are a standard roof.

The neighborhood is also ideally situated. It is a quick drive to the town of McLean. And just across from Lewinsville Park. This is where the McLean Farmer’s Market is held May-November.

The HOA has typically included typical townhome amenities, a nice perk is they include front lawn care.

Old Dominion Square & McLean Mews

A townhome with a garage and a courtyard that leads to the front door.
A townhome in McLean Mews. You can see the courtyard in the background.

Old Dominion Square was developed in the late 1960s and early 70s. It was built at the time to be a luxury community.

The models have large floor plans. Some go over 3000 square feet including the finished basement. They have formal dining rooms, lots of interior trim work and large windows.

Old Dominion Square is built right next to McLean Mews.

McLean Mews offers unique curb appeal. Some of the townhomes have a great courtyard that separate the detached garages from the entries.

Other models in McLean Mews have a walk up stair entry and an attached garage.

The townhomes are located right across from some of the best shopping, grocery and convenience in McLean.

You can easily walk to several shops from much of the neighborhoods.

McLean Crest

McLean Crest was built in the early 2000s. This community has everything you would expect of a luxury community built in this era.

The townhomes features high ceilings, many with custom trim. The kitchens are mostly open, built with a breakfast bar and island. The master bedrooms have walk in closets and large ensuite bath.

Additionally, many McLean Crest townhomes come with elevators.

The location is also great for commuters. The neighborhood is right on 123.

Madison of McLean

Just up the road east on on 123 is Madison of McLean. The community is from the late 70s/early 80s.

The community has very attractive curb appeal. The homes are brick with large blocked trim near the roofline. The roofs themselves are cedar shake.

The neighborhood makes use of outdoor areas with well manicured landscaping and brick and stone courtyards & walkways.

Inside, the townhomes are large and have some open areas, but also defined rooms. many basements have a wet bar. Many of the townhomes that go to market have been at least partially updated.

Kings Manor Townhouses

Kings Manor is one of the most sought after townhome communities in McLean. For starters, the location is ideal.

While some communities are right off of a main road, Kings Manor is tucked farther back from the main commuter routes, offering a bit more privacy.

However, it also easily accessible to route 123, Georgetown Pike and the shops and restaurants in McLean.

Kings Manor has townhomes and also single family homes on small lots.

One of my favorite parts of this neighborhood is the varied styles of townhomes. The exteriors have various colors of painted brick.

As you drive through you will see many with metal roofs mixed in with traditional materials. Some are flat, some mansard and others traditionally pitched.

Like most older townhome communities, the majority of interiors have been updated and remodeled to some degree. Truly, this is a special neighborhood for buyers looking for unique charm.

Hamptons of McLean

The Hamptons of McLean townhomes are located right off of Old Dominion Rd, and is built very close to Old Dominion Square and McLean Mews communities.

This community was built with two distinct sections. One has more traditional, 3 level townhomes with arched exterior doorways.

The other is more contemporary, with lots of sharp angles in the exterior and a large entertaining area with a large ceiling upon entering.

These townhomes have attached garages, and share the great location just south of the quaint McLean’s business district.

Hallcrest Heights

Hallcrest heights has smaller townhomes, tucked right near the exit of the 267 toll road.

The location is great, and right up the toll road from the McLean Metro station.

This is a great section of townhomes with a relatively lower price point. For more information on Hallcrest Heights see our post here.

Evans Mill Pond

Evans Mill Pond is a very attractive community. And yes, it does have a small man made pond in the neighborhood. This gives many townhomes a water view from the back decks.

The homes have a colonial style with cedar shake roofs. The townhomes were built with lots of windows to maximize natural light. Additionally, most are very well kept and updated when sold.

The neighborhood is in West McLean, just north of 123.

Hunting Ridge

Hunting Ridge is on the very western edge of McLean. This section is close to McLean Metro and the surrounding Scott’s Run development. It is also easily accessible to Tysons Corner.

This community was built in the early 2000s. The townhomes have stunning front elevations, and are built with 4 story models.

The top levels of these have a bedroom and a small rooftop balcony. Some of the townhomes also are equipped with a working elevator that goes through all 4 levels.

The interiors are open, but most also have an area to be used as a formal dining room and living room.

Evans Farm

Evans Farm is an elegant gated community of both luxury single family homes and luxury townhomes. It is located near the intersection of 123 and Lewinsville Rd. / Great Falls St.

The townhomes are among the largest in McLean, some containing more than 6000 finished square feet. If you are downsizing from a large luxury home and want less maintenance this is the neighborhood to be in.

The exteriors are finished with brick and stone, colonial style with white trim and columns. The community was built in the early 2000s.

The interiors have what you would expect from this era luxury townhome. Open kitchens, office and sitting areas, extensive trimwork, elevators and master suites with large ensuite bathrooms.

Evans Farm and the land the community is built on also has a rich history worth checking out if you are interested in living here.

Selling Your Home

McLean has a relatively small selection of townhomes, which make it a very niche market compared to Fairfax County as a whole.

So it is important to hire a local agent with experience selling this type of property.
