There are two large sections of luxury single family homes in Penderbrook. One is off of Center Way, and the other off Parkside Drive.

These single family detached homes were, like the rest of the community, built in the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s.

If you are interested in a single family home in Penderbrook, keep in mind that it is notorious for having low inventory, especially in healthy markets.

In other words, if you see a home you like make sure to schedule a tour quickly.

The community is laid out in a way that many of the homes have views of various holes of the golf course.

The single family homes are surrounded by the course, so more than half have some level of a view.

The two sections of homes are built on either side of clubhouse, fitness center & pool area.

The homes were built with large open kitchens, grand staircases and open hallways, decks off the back, master suites with large bathrooms, two car garages and large basements.

Although the yards are on the smaller side, the country club atmosphere makes up for it.

Wedgeway

The first contains the smallest townhomes by sq ft., and are located on Wedgeway Court & Place.

The distinct feature of these townhomes is they have two large bedrooms rather than three smaller bedrooms.

Basements in this section are finished to varying degrees. Some have a full bath and space for rec room/office.

The price for these townhomes are historically less than the other two sections. This is because they are smaller and have no garage option.

The layouts are inviting, with kitchens usually in the back of the home and many have golf course views with decks overlooking.

Inverness Ct

If you continue on Penderbrook Dr and onto South Penderbrook Dr, on the left you will a cluster of larger townhomes built off Inverness Ct and other smaller courts.

These townhomes were built to be luxurious. They are priced higher than wedgeway, but you will get a lot more space and all of the townhomes in this section have a garage.

This section has large bumpouts, high ceilings, open open floor plans, bay windows and some even have an extra loft space.

The back row of townhomes were built against a couple of holes in the golf course for seasonal views and some green wooded green space.

Valley Ridge

Further down the South Penderbrook Dr. you will find the last cluster of townhomes.

This section was built last, in the early/mid 90s with the others built in the late 80s.

There are townhomes with garages, but many actually just have reserved parking and more space in the basement.

This area has the most diverse options for floor plans, and also exteriors.

One small section has incredible views of both the golf course and Penderbrook’s largest golf ball filled pond.

There are three condo complexes in penderbrook as well.

Heights At Penderbrook

Heights at Penderbrook is right in the center of the action. These buildings are built with a few levels, and the tops level has an option for a loft.

Finished in the late 80s, these units are popular because many have course views, and some are a good size and offer three bedrooms and a loft.

The most sought after units are the top floor, as they have the loft and also vaulted high ceilings. These units that also have the course view are the most sought after in this complex.

Penderbrook Square

Across from the Heights is Penderbrook Square.

These units are, on average, smaller than the other complexes. There is a large selection of one bedroom units with 500-700 square feet. These units are popular among investors.

Historically, the condo fee here is also very good. It includes its own pool as well as Penderbrook’s large pool by the clubhouse.

Also, the Penderbrook master fees have been included in the condo fee for this complex which is unique. Check with me on that because like most things in real estate (and life) it is subject to change.

This is a great complex if you want something smaller with a smaller price tag.

Oxford House

Oxford house condos are simple, elegant and sought after.

The complexes have two layouts, one has both have two bedrooms. They are just over 1200 square feet, and then the top level units have a loft area in addition.

Most of the units are nice because the bedrooms are on either end of the unit, with living space and kitchen in between.

Penderbrook is built around an 18 hole par 71 championship golf course. Many holes have bodies of water, making for a pleasant view even if you are not golfing.

The pool has both lap lanes and a diving well.

• Fair Oaks Mall

Fair Oaks is a short drive away, an indoor shopping mall featuring department stores, restaurants, entertainment and other stores.

• Fairfax Corner

Fairfax Corner has several popular restaurants of varying food types.

This also has some small boutique shops and a movie theater.

There is also an outdoor area to relax, eat and bring the kids to the splash pad.

• Fair Lakes

Fair Lakes has several sections of open air shopping centers. You can find large department stores, grocery stores and lots more.

There is also ample office space in this area occupied by various employers.

• George Mason University

GMU has grown over the decades, and the school is a major employer in the area as well as a great place to get a degree.

It is a short drive or bus ride away from Penderbrook (about 7 miles).

• Dulles Airport

Dulles is an international airport and major travel hub for Northern VA and beyond.

There is also a metro stop on the silver line built here.

• Transportation

Penderbrook is located close to metro bus stops and also Route 66, which runs east eventually into Washington DC.
