More About Woodson High School
Woodson High School is located at 9525 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031, at the east end of Fairfax City and just across the street from Fair City Mall.
Founded in 1962, the school was named after Wilbert Tucker Woodson. He was the superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools from 1929 to 1961.
The school has been remodeled over the years.
Woodson High School has at times had the largest campus in Fairfax County and caters to more than 2,200 high school students.
It also houses the Woodson Adult High School, a program that allows adults to earn their GEDs or high school diplomas. Woodson’s mascot is a Cavalier and their colors are navy blue, red, and white.
Most students attend Frost Middle School right next door before moving onto Woodson High School.
Students can choose to be a part of any of the top performing arts or academic clubs and AAA sports teams.
Subdivisions Near Woodson High School
Several communities have a long history of being served by Woodson High School, including Mantua, Olde Creek, Canterbury Woods, Truro, Long Branch, and Wakefield Forest.
Mantua, one large subdivision across the street from Woodson High School, contains numerous styles of single family homes.
The neighborhood is surrounded by parks; Woodburn Road Park, Eakin Park, and Mantua Hills Park; and also provides easy access to Fair City Mall and Main Street.
Starlit Ponds is the subdivision to the east of Woodson High School, right next to Frost Middle School.
The community is just a few minutes from Woodson. Additionally, Starlit Ponds provides access to playgrounds, fields, a track, and tennis courts.
To the west of Woodson High School is the subdivision of Somerset. Somerset is backed by Calvary Memorial Gardens and Fairfax Memorial Park.
The community connects to Burke Station Road, providing easy access to both Main Street and Braddock Road.
