Community

The townhomes at Fair Woods were built on either side of the exit where Rt. 50 meets Fairfax County Parkway on the western side of Fairfax. Construction took place in the mid 1980s.

Fair Woods is within walking distance of Pender Village Center. Grocery store, banking and other shops make this a popular spot for the residents.

The HOA is also active and occasionally works out discounts for residents from local business which can be found on their website.

The community is also just north of Fair Lakes and other large town centers like Fairfax Corner.

There is lots to do in Fair Lakes and surrounding areas, great for a date night or shopping.

Also nearby is Penderbrook’s community golf course. You could likely walk there if you are up for lugging your clubs. Penderbrook is open to the public to apply for membership.

Most importantly, there are thousands of jobs in the area including the mall and shopping centers, Fairfax County Government Center, restaurants and multiple office parks.

Transportation is also good if you are leaving Fairfax or commuting. It is a short drive to Rt. 66 and also close to Dulles Airport where you can get a flight domestic or international.

Now that we know where they are, let’s look at the townhomes themselves.

Fair Woods boasts more than 15 unique models of townhome according to the HOA website. This is also easily seen when driving through the neighborhood.

The different exteriors make it a very unique community.

The townhomes have many styles. They have some with covered porch areas and in the front with vinyl, and uniquely shaped bump-outs and roof lines.

They also have more traditional townhomes that have similar exteriors to other neighborhoods. Vinyl and brick front siding are the options.

However, the biggest and best are the end units. They also come in different styles. The full brick end units have an entrance on the side.

If you look at them from the front, you would think it is a detached home. And the square footage says the same, some of these townhomes come in at an estimated 2300+ sq ft with the basement.

Inside, there is a similar story. Lots of variety. These townhomes were built in the 1980s, so updating is seen throughout many of them.

But there are also lots of thoughtful layouts by the original builders that make these townhomes different.
