Oakton’s Remodel Around 2020
In 2019 Oakton students were having class in what is affectionately “Cougar Towne”, a collection of trailers on the outskirts of the main infrastructure of the school.
The temporary setting gave way to something bigger and better than what was there before it: a large addition onto the school that will be built in 4 phases.
The first phase was being constructed in 2019 and finished around the summer of 2020.
The first phase is the largest infrastructure, with the other 3 phases smaller but still substantial.
When all was said and done, Oakton got a modern look and also be able to handle what they are calling a “growing enrollment”.
A few of the trailers could possibly stay to hold some classes, as Oakton’s student population is much bigger than they anticipated when they planned the building.
Fairfax County has been working out ways to fit the continuing increase of students in the schools, and renovating seems to be a major part of that plan with many schools slated to get more space and newer facilities.
A renovated Oakton High School has done well for homeowners who live in the area.
